Year Four Blog

We have started a history topic ‘Were the Vikings Vicious?’. We started by playing a game of Capture the Flag so we could experience an invasion. Since then we have ordered a Viking timeline and compared two Anglo-Saxon Kings that fought against them.

In English, we have had a lot of fun studying Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. To celebrate Roald Dahl Day on 13th September, the children designed their own new chocolate bar or sweets and wrote an advert persuading people to buy it. Finally, we designed and created wrappers for our confectionary.

In numeracy, we have been concentrating on place value. We’ve learnt how to regroup numbers to 10,000 as well as estimating where numbers should be placed on a number line giving mathematical reasons to explain our thinking.

We are looking forward to all the exciting learning we have coming up in the next few weeks!
