Year Two Blog

The children have learnt about Florence Nightingale, Mary Seacole and Edith Cavell. We have learnt why each nurse was important and how they differ from each other.

We have compared nurses, written about them, created timelines of their life and even made model versions of what their hospital would have been like.

In D&T, the children have made their own hand puppet of one of the nurses we have studied. They were able to develop both their running and overstitching skills in order to make their puppet.

Caleb said “I really like doing the art part of our topic. I like drawing and making the puppets.”

Molly said “I liked making the puppets on Florence Nightingale because I liked the sewing.”

Sam said “I liked making a hospital box out of cardboard as I got to paint it as well.”
