Year One Blog
So far this term we have been learning how to structure our sentences in Literacy from using full stops to capital letters. We have written our own versions of the well know story ‘The tiger who came to tea’. We are now looking at ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’.
In maths, we have been looking at how to make different values using resources and well as learning which numbers we can add together to make values to 10.
The children have loved our painting unit of work so far this term. We have learnt how to colour mix to make secondary colours, as well as how to create tints and shades. We have been looking at two artists Delaunay and Kandinsky, who use warm and cool colours to paint their shapes.
In science, the children are loving learning about animals. We have learnt about the animal types (mammal, fish, bird, reptile and amphibian) as well as their food groups (carnivore, herbivore, omnivore). We have begun to now compare and contrast different animals body parts.
