Year One Blog
The theme of the workshop was ‘Me and My Senses’. The workshop was booked to support the children’s current work in science.
Throughout the morning the children, working in small groups, undertook a range of practical activities exploring their body and senses. These included a hearing activity, creating an optical illusion, a feely box, walking in texture pebbles, a taste and smell investigation, creating a skeleton, a height comparison task, fingerprinting and finally a heart and exercise activity.
At the end of the morning the children shared their learning. The children spoke enthusiastically about what they had done and what they had learnt.
“It was a great morning”
“I had lots of fun”
“I learnt you can trick your brain”
“I learnt the body has 206 bones”
The children had a great morning and through practical investigation they developed their knowledge of their body and senses.
A big thank you to all the parents who helped!
