The fantastic new fitness trail will transform playtimes for the children, especially during the winter months, by giving them a greater choice of activities during breaks and lunchtimes.
The Headteacher, PE Coordinator and Year 4 sports crew worked together to select the equipment to ensure it was suitable for the whole school with upper body and core strength being a priority. The new fitness trail includes a range of exciting new challenges for the children including a climbing wall, monkey bars, a wobbly bridge, and a rock slab.
This was made possible by our PE and sports premium. Most schools with primary-age pupils receive the premium and schools must use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport on offer. This year Studlands Rise focused on one of the 5 key indicators: The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity - the Chief Medical Officer guidelines recommend that all children and young people aged 5 to 18 engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity a day, of which 30 minutes should be in school. By installing the fitness trail children will be more active at play times it will also benefit pupils joining the school in future years.
The play trail was officially opened on Thursday 3rd May.
