A Guide for Parents/Guardians

In school photographs are frequently taken of children to capture learning and experience. In the Foundation Stage photographs are taken daily, these are used in class displays, on Tapestry and  to sign themselves in each morning.

There may be occasions during the school year where you wish to take photographs or make a video recording of your child/children taking part in a school activity.  Alternatively, the school may wish to publicise events in the local press.

Our aim is to ensure that pictures or images taken are used appropriately and reflect the protective ethos of our school.

To help us achieve this:

• On the Parental Consent Form attached you will be asked to sign to indicate that any images (photographic, video or digital) that you take will not be used outside your immediate family.
• You will also be signing to agree that you will not publish or distribute any photographs that contain children other than your own on any social media or any other website.
• You could be informed by the school that photography or video recording will only be allowed in designated areas, e.g. in the School Hall where an assembly or performance is taking place.
• If using a video camera during school assemblies or performances you may be asked to sit at the back of the hall to prevent obscuring other people’s view.
• Occasionally, we might ask you not to use your own video camera but offer you the opportunity to purchase a school video recording of the event or performance.
• With the Parental Consent Form you will be asked for permission for your child/children to be photographed during school activities. These photographs may be used for school purposes.
• We undertake not to name children in photographs we use on our school website or in school publications.

Occasionally photographs may be used by the local press.  If you have any objections to your child being named, please ensure that you indicate this on the Consent Form.
