We began the term with the exciting delivery of our eggs. The children had the opportunity to observe first-hand the hatching of the eggs. The children then helped care for our new chicks and even got to hold them. The children then produced some wonderful writing about the life cycle of a chicken, made their own chicks and carried out a ‘Humpty Dumpty’ egg experiment.
Then we had another delivery, this time of caterpillars and the children have been excitedly watching the caterpillars transform into chrysalis’ and are now waiting for the butterflies!! The children have learnt about symmetrical patterns and created their own patterns on their butterflies and in literacy they did a great job drawing and labelling the life cycle of a butterfly
In PE the children have been travelling and balancing on the large apparatus and have enjoyed creating a range of movements and dances based on our minibeast topic.
In maths the children have been learning about whole, part numbers and have been using their subitising skills to identify the parts of numbers to make the whole. We also had our fantastic ‘Superhero’ maths day where the children completed a range of activities using their number knowledge to solve problems.
We are looking forward to next term and hopefully lots of sunshine.
