We have been doing activities focused on some Julia Donaldson book. When learning about Room on the Broom then children followed recipes and made their own potions. They measured broomsticks, sorted the plot into beginning, middle and end. Retold the story with small world characters and learnt about texture describing words when making giant story characters that feel just how we imagine.

We also had lots of fun learning about Stick Man. We discussed being lost, we ordered the story images, we counted and sorted sticks and even went on a forest stick walk. We used new joining techniques to make our own stick characters and also learnt about and made our own stick insects.

We also really enjoyed learning about the festival of Diwali. Our favourite things were making jewellery, clay Diva lights, Rangloi rice pictures and acting to retell the story.
