We began by learning about Winter, being ‘Winter Explorers’.  We learnt about animals in Winter and how we can look after the birds, making bird feeders.

We then celebrated Chinese New Year.  The children had the opportunity to use various tools to create their amazing dragons.  The children were encouraged to choose the best tool for the job and talked about how to use them safely.

In maths the children have been learning that anything can be counted and have played lots of games, counting claps, jumps and hops.  They have also been learning how to represent number using marks, symbols or numerals.

The children have also enjoyed ‘The Three Little Pigs’ and enjoyed investigating different materials to see which ones could be blown away by the Big Bad Wolf.

The children have really enjoyed this story and it has led to some fantastic re-telling of the story in our role play area and painting and collages in our craft area.

We are looking forward to next term where the children will continue to learn through the topic of ‘Our Favourite Stories’.  The next story that the children voted for is ‘The Gingerbread Man’
