The children have really enjoyed our Space topic and have brought in lots of interesting books, models and pictures to share with the rest of the class.
In Literacy, we have completed lots of activities around our space themed stories; ‘Whatever Next!’, ‘Aliens Love Underpants’ and ‘How to Catch a Star’. We have written lists of things we would take to the moon, continued rhyming strings and explained how we would catch a star.
The children also really enjoyed learning about Chinese New Year. They have enjoyed Chinese takeaways in the role play area, used paint to create Chinese symbols, made their own lanterns and recalled and retold the story of the zodiac animals.
In Maths, we have learned how to find one less or two less than a given number and learned how to tell the time to o’clock. We used our Space theme to learn about positional language and symmetry and we are looking forward to creating our own 2D shape aliens next week!
We have been extremely creative by designing and decorating our own underpants using different materials and creating our own versions of Vincent Van Gogh’s famous painting ‘Starry Night’. We have created our own aliens using the computer programme Tux paint and have lots of fun learning a space themed dance.
